About Large Word Search

Large Word Search is a simple puzzle site built around one product decision: the puzzle should be easy to see and easy to start. The game opens in the browser without an account, a countdown timer, or a busy menu system.

The site is designed for people who prefer large letters, calm screens, and straightforward controls. That includes older adults, casual puzzle players, caregivers preparing activities, and anyone who wants a quiet word search without app-store friction.

How the puzzles are made

The current puzzles are generated from our own small theme word lists. A custom word search generator places the words into a grid, records the answer positions, and fills the remaining spaces with letters. The same source data can support online play and printable versions.

We do not copy puzzle grids from newspapers, apps, or competing puzzle sites. The project is intentionally built as a clean-room implementation so the game logic, topic lists, page text, and printable output remain easy to audit.

Design principles

The interface favors large type, high contrast, generous spacing, and simple tap targets. Progress is saved in the browser when possible, so a player can return to the same theme without starting over. The game is intentionally free of fast animations, penalties, and timed pressure.
